A Personal Message from John Zappia, Founder

Sometimes, the best businesses aren't built from a business plan. They're born from a simple act of kindness and a neighbor who needs help.

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought uncertainty into nearly every home, starting a garage door business was the last thing on my mind. Like so many others, I was simply looking for ways to help people during a difficult time.

It started with a nurse who lived down the road. She was trying to get to work, where people were counting on her, but her garage door wouldn't open. She needed help, and I was able to lend a hand.

Not long afterward, another neighbor had a broken garage door spring. Then someone else needed help. Before I knew it, what started as helping one neighbor had become something much bigger.

That's when I realized something important.

A broken garage door isn't just an inconvenience. It can disrupt someone's entire day, prevent them from getting to work, compromise their home's security, or leave them feeling helpless.

And when that happens, people deserve more than someone who simply shows up with tools.

They deserve someone they can trust.

Someone who listens, explains the problem, provides honest recommendations, respects their home, and takes pride in doing the job right.

With my mechanical background, a willingness to work hard, and a genuine desire to help others, Diligent Overhead Door LLC was born.

Not because I saw an opportunity to build a business, but because I saw an opportunity to make a difference.

More Than Garage Doors. It's About People.

What began with a few neighbors has grown into a business serving Elma and communities throughout Western New York.

But as the business has grown, my philosophy has never changed.

Every customer deserves honesty. Every home deserves respect. Every repair deserves attention to detail. And every person who calls Diligent Overhead Door deserves to feel confident that they're being treated fairly.

I don't believe in unnecessary repairs, high-pressure sales tactics, or treating customers like another number on a schedule.

I believe in showing up, listening, doing quality work, and standing behind the service I provide.

When I leave a customer's driveway, my goal isn't simply to have fixed their garage door.
